The absence of US President Donald Trump from the NATO summit in The Hague at the end of June will mean a deep crisis for the alliance. This was stated by Polish leader Andrzej Duda on Radio Zet.
“If Trump does not come, then a serious crisis will arise. This will be a sign of a crisis“, Duda said. "I don't think he won't show up," the Polish leader said.
In early May, Der Spiegel magazine predictedthat Trump might not attend the NATO summit in The Hague if the alliance countries did not take steps to increase military spending to 5% of GDP. On May 23, the US Permanent Representative to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, announced that the US President was scheduled to attend the summit.
The NATO summit will be held on June 24 and 25 at the Congress Building in The Hague. The event is expected to be attended by about 45 heads of state and government, 45 foreign and defense ministers, and about 6,000 members of delegations.
