NATO expressed its support for the Czech Republic after Prague reported a large-scale cyberattack on the Foreign Ministry, Reuters reported. Czech authorities accused China of being behind the "malicious cyber campaign", quoted by BTA.
“We express our solidarity with the Czech Republic following the malicious cyberattack on its Foreign Ministry“, said NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. He stressed that the Alliance is watching with growing concern the increase in such actions coming from the People's Republic of China.
The European Union also condemned the actions and expressed support for Prague. A statement by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, said:
“The European Union and its member states, together with our international partners, express our solidarity with the Czech Republic in connection with the malicious cyber campaign targeting its foreign ministry.“
The EU said member states were increasingly being targeted by such attacks, and stressed that China must do more to prevent them.
