The Kurdish “Syrian Democratic Forces“ are in direct contact with Turkey, their commander Mazloum Abdi said in a comment to the Shams TV channel.
He said they “have direct contacts with Turkey, as well as through intermediaries“. Abdi expressed hope that relations would develop further, and also noted that “he has no objection to meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan“.
On March 10, interim Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Abdi signed an agreement under which Kurdish fighters would be included in the armed forces of the transitional government. The parties agreed that all civilian and military facilities, including airports, gas and oil fields, located in the Syrian Democratic Forces-controlled areas of northeastern Syria will come under the control of the new administration in Damascus.
