American tech billionaire Elon Musk has sharply criticized the mega-law to cut taxes and spending that President Donald Trump is trying to push through Congress. In a post on the social network X, Musk called the bill “huge, outrageous“ and “disgusting abomination“, Nova TV reports.
“I'm sorry, but I just can't take it anymore“, Musk wrote.
“Shame on those who voted for it - you know you didn't do the right thing. You know it“, he added, referring to members of Congress who supported the bill.
In response, the White House defended bill, stressing that Musk's criticisms will not change the president's position.
“The president already knows where Elon Musk stands on this bill. This doesn't change his mind. It's a big, beautiful bill, and he's standing by it,“ said press secretary Carolyn Leavitt.
Musk's comments come just days after he left the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a government agency created to streamline government spending.
