US President Donald Trump has no intention of speaking to Elon Musk, despite earlier reports of a planned phone call between the two on Friday. This was confirmed by a senior White House official, emphasizing that no contact is planned between the president and the billionaire "at least today", reports "Reuters".
The news comes after a spectacular breakdown in relations between Trump and Musk, who until recently were in a close political alliance. The two engaged in a direct verbal clash on Thursday via their respective social media platforms, Trump's Truth Social and Musk's X.
The conflict was sparked by the president's proposal for a massive tax cut and spending bill, which Musk has sharply criticized as a "disgusting abomination" that could increase the national debt by up to $5 trillion.
"I'm very disappointed in Elon," Trump told reporters, noting, "We had a great relationship, but I don't know if that's going to last."
Musk, for his part, responded on X: "Without me, Trump would have lost the election."
