The internet in North Korea is suffering a major crash, and it is not yet clear whether this is due to a cyberattack or an internal problem, a UK-based expert who monitors the virtual network in the isolated Asian country said, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

North Korea's main news websites and the Foreign Ministry's website are inaccessible.

"The internet in North Korea is currently experiencing a major crash, affecting all routes, regardless of whether they go through China or Russia," said Junaid Ali. North Korea's entire internet infrastructure is not visible to systems that can monitor internet activity, he added.

The South Korean police Cyber Terrorism Response Center, which monitors North Korea's cyber activities, has not yet commented on the situation.
