A gruesome video sent to relatives by one of the passengers has captured the situation in the passenger cabin during the last seconds of the flight of the Indian plane, which failed to gain altitude and crashed into a student dormitory in the city of Ahmedabad.
The footage shows the heavily smoky interior and the panic among the passengers.
The farewell selfie of a dead family of 5, who started a new life in Great Britain, also spread on social networks.

The sad story was told on Facebook by user Daniel Scott:
"Indian software specialist Prateek Joshi, his wife Dr. Komi Vyas and their three children are among those killed in the plane crash in the city of Ahmedabad.
The man had been living in London for the past six years and had long dreamed of building a better future abroad for his wife and their three young children, who remained in India.
After years of planning, paperwork and patience, that dream finally seemed to come true. Two days before the tragedy, his wife, Dr. Komi Vyas, a medical specialist, had left her job in India.
The bags were packed, they said goodbye to friends and family, and the future awaited them.
On the fateful morning, the five, full of hope, excitement, and plans, boarded Air India Flight 171 to London. They took a selfie from the plane and sent it to relatives. A one-way trip to start a new life.
But it never happened. Less than a minute later, the plane crashed and none of them survived.
In an instant, a lifetime of dreams turned to ashes. A brutal reminder that life is terribly fragile. Everything you build, everything you hope for, everything you love, everything hangs in the balance.
So, while you can, live, love and don't wait for happiness to begin tomorrow," writes Daniel Scott on Facebook.
