The Kremlin said on Monday that no decision has yet been made on when the next direct peace talks with Ukraine will be held, Reuters reported. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement in response to a question about whether Russia will consider Ukraine's offer for a ceasefire, BTA reports.
Peskov said Russia had fulfilled the obligations it had agreed to abide by after previous talks in Istanbul on June 2. Russia would assess in the coming days what the possible timeframe for continuing the talks would be, he added.
Regarding the situation in the Middle East, Moscow said it saw that Israel did not want to hold ceasefire talks with Iran amid the "galloping escalation". Speaking to reporters, Peskov called on both sides to exercise restraint. The Kremlin spokesman added that Moscow's offer to mediate if necessary was still valid, but that Israel was not interested in seeking a peaceful solution at the moment.
The Kremlin also said that US President Donald Trump was right that Russia's exclusion from the G8 in 2014 was a mistake, but also that the format had lost its practical significance for Russia and the G7 forum now seemed useless.
