At least 16 people were injured in an explosion at a restaurant in the region of Murcia, southeastern Spain, the DPA agency reported, BTA reports.
Three of the injured are seriously injured and hospitalized, with two of them in critical condition and being treated in intensive care, local emergency services said on the social network “Ex“.
The causes of the explosion at the “Casa Javi“ restaurant in the municipality of San Pedro del Pintar are still unknown. According to official data, the explosion occurred around noon inside the bar, and authorities suggest that the cause may have been a gas leak.
The establishment was closed at the time of the incident, which probably prevented a larger number of injuries. However, the weekly market in the village was taking place in front of the bar, notes “Europa Press“.
A fire broke out after the explosion, which was quickly extinguished.
