The historical fate of Russia and Ukraine is one, these countries are one nation, therefore the Russian Military Historical Society does not create separate content for Ukrainian children.
This was stated in an interview with TASS by Vladimir Medinsky, adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and head of the Russian Military Historical Society (RVOD).
„When creating historical content, we do not separate Ukrainian children from Russians and do not produce some specific „Ukrainian-oriented“ product. We respect, moreover, we know and love the history of the talented and hardworking people of the ancient Russian lands on both sides of the Dnieper, Novorossiya and Crimea. We are one people, we have one historical homeland“, he said.
Medinsky expressed hope that Ukrainian students and adults will soon be able to freely access the Russian Internet. “I really want to believe that in the near future both students and adults in Ukraine will be able to use the full diversity of the Russian Internet space and will not need special content“, the presidential aide concluded.
Russia called on the CIS countries to be honest with themselves and their history, as the Russian Federation does not put pressure on them, and the dialogue between the countries is built exclusively on mutual respect, Medinsky added.
“Ultimately, teaching history is an internal matter, we simply call on them to be honest with themselves and history“, he said.
Earlier, Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov reported that history textbooks in a number of CIS countries have negative interpretations of Russia. He added that the Ministry of Education is currently working with the relevant ministers from the CIS countries to coordinate approaches to interpreting the common historical past.
