Trump gathers African leaders for first summit, focus on minerals and security

The first summit with African leaders since US President Donald Trump returned to the White House will be held in Washington from July 9 to 11, the Semafor portal reported, citing its sources.

According to their information, the leaders of Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania and Senegal will arrive in the US capital. Washington plans to discuss cooperation with West African countries in the field of mineral resources, as well as regional security issues.

In addition, a larger US-Africa summit is planned for the fall, Semafor notes.

It is expected to be held in September in New York.
