The mayor of Skopje Danela Arsovska was attacked in the “Chair” neighborhood during an inspection for illegal construction. The incident dates back to Friday. According to her, a man attacked her with kicks and fists. He also made threats to her life, Nova TV reports.
The police in North Macedonia announced that the attacker was detained along with two others who participated. Arsovska became mayor of Skopje as a candidate of the current ruling VMRO-DPMNE party. However, they later broke up. Arsovska has Bulgarian citizenship and has been attacked in North Macedonia more than once because of it.
After her attack on Friday, Bulgarian MEP Andrey Kovachev reacted, writing on Facebook that this was yet another disturbing attack against a Bulgarian citizen in North Macedonia.
