US President Donald Trump intends to present a plan today to supply Ukraine with weapons, including offensive ones, the Axios portal reported, citing its sources.
According to the portal, this will happen at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House.
Axios emphasizes that this will mark a “big shift“ in Trump's policy. The American leader previously stated that Washington would send Kiev “a few more weapons“, explaining that these are “mostly defensive“ weapons.
Sources of the portal claim that Trump's plan may include a clause for the possible transfer to Ukraine of "long-range missiles that can reach targets deep into Russian territory, including Moscow". At the same time, Axios sources note that they do not know whether a final decision has been made on this issue.
Earlier on Sunday, Trump said that the United States would send Ukraine additional weapons, including missiles for the "Patriot" systems, which will be paid for by the European Union.
