Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcomed the change in position of US President Donald Trump towards Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by the ANSA agency, BTA reports.
„We continue to see no progress from the Russian side. "Russia continues to attack peaceful citizens with increasingly brutal strikes, demonstrating how little Moscow is committed to achieving the peace we all strive for, despite the Trump administration's willingness to start a dialogue that Putin has decided not to accept," Meloni said at a press conference after a meeting with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker at Palazzo Togi.
She stressed that she saw a positive change in Washington's position and expressed support:
“We see a change in the position of the United States and we welcome it,” Meloni said.
The Italian prime minister added that work was continuing on concluding a mutually beneficial trade agreement between the European Union and the United States, with the aim of finalizing it before the August 1 deadline, Reuters reported.
