Hakan Fidan: "The world is witnessing the creation of concentration camps again - 1

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan sharply criticized the international community during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council dedicated to the conflict in Gaza. In his speech, he accused the Security Council of not only disappointing the people of Gaza, but also neglecting human dignity, BTA reports.

“What is happening is already a test of our collective humanity. Either we will pass it together or we will fail together“, Fidan emphasized, quoted by TRT Haber. “It is clear what we must do to stop Israel's war machine immediately and for the fire to be permanently stopped.“

The Turkish Foreign Minister described Israel's actions in Gaza as “genocide“, in which over two million people are subjected to severe suffering, and humanitarian aid is deliberately obstructed. According to him, people are dying while trying to reach food and water points.

Fidan also made a sharp comparison with history:

“Eighty years later, the world is once again witnessing the creation of concentration camps. A campaign to destroy an entire people is underway.“

The minister accused Israel of pursuing an offensive strategy not only in Gaza, but also in Lebanon, Syria and Iran, warning that this policy could lead to wider destabilization in the region:

“This is a machine that is fueled by hatred, impunity and the unconditional support of some countries.“

Fidan stressed that only the UN can ensure coordinated and secure supplies of humanitarian aid in Gaza. According to him, the aid must be provided in a timely manner, in sufficient quantities and in compliance with the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence.

He recalled that Turkey has been insisting on urgent international action since the beginning of the conflict, and that Ankara will continue to work for the recognition of Palestine as a full member of the UN.
