Russia and Ukraine have exchanged more bodies of those killed in the war, reports the "Reuters" agency, BTA reports.
The exchange is part of an agreement reached during the second round of peace talks in Istanbul in June.
Vladimir Medinsky, the head of the Russian delegation to the talks, said on Telegram that Moscow had handed over the bodies of 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers and received in return 19 bodies of its own soldiers killed in the fighting.
The state news agency RIA Novosti reported, citing a source, that Russia planned to return the bodies of a total of 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers, with today's exchange being the beginning of that process.
Since May, after a more than three-year hiatus, the warring parties have been carrying out a series of exchanges of captured soldiers and remains of the dead, in parallel with the resumption of peace talks in Istanbul.
