Moscow "does not give in to threats", the Russian Foreign Ministry said today, after US President Donald Trump gave Russia 50 days to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine and threatened it with sanctions, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
On Monday, Trump announced his toughest position yet regarding the war in Ukraine, setting an ultimatum to Moscow and promising new supplies of missiles and other weapons to Kiev.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said today that Trump's decision to supply Ukraine with new missiles was a signal for Kiev to "continue the carnage" and reject peace initiatives.
"The Russian delegation is ready to arrive in Istanbul for a third round of negotiations," Zakharova said, noting that she has not yet seen any signals from Kiev about readiness for talks.
Zakharova added that she considers it counterproductive to "measure in millimeters" the differences in the White House's positions, TASS reports.
