German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron expressed their firm support for the 18th package of sanctions by the European Union against Russia, which aims to limit Moscow's ability to finance its military actions in Ukraine, News.bg reports.
“It is good that we have reached an agreement within the EU. This reduces Russia's ability to continue financing the war against Ukraine“, Merz said on the social network X, emphasizing that the sanctions maintain pressure on the Kremlin.
French President Emmanuel Macron also welcomed the decision, indicating that he had held a conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. “Russian attacks must stop immediately. France is and remains on the side of Ukraine“, Macron wrote on X.
