Moscow Speaks: Each New Package Adds Negative Consequences for Countries Joining It - 1

The Russian leadership will analyze the next EU sanctions package against Russia to minimize its consequences, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, quoted by Agence France-Presse and TASS, BTA reports.

Earlier today, the European Union adopted the eighteenth package of sanctions against Russia over its war in Ukraine.

The package includes measures aimed at inflicting additional blows on Russia's oil and energy industries.

"Each new package adds negative consequences for countries joining it," Peskov also said, noting that it is a "double-edged sword".

"We have repeatedly said that we consider these unilateral restrictions to be illegal and we oppose them," the Kremlin spokesman stressed.

Russia "has already developed a certain immunity. We have become accustomed to living under sanctions," Dmitry Peskov said.

The new sanctions package was described as "one of the harshest against Russia so far" by the head of European diplomacy, Kaia Kalas.

The Kremlin said earlier today that it agreed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's statement that it was necessary to give additional impetus to peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Two rounds of talks between Ukraine and Russia were held in Turkey this year.
