The Verkhovna Rada allowed Ukrainians to serve after reaching the age of 60, as the security and defense sector needs unique specialists. At the same time, there is no question of compulsory mobilization, RBC-Ukraine reported, citing deputy, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Fedir Venislavsky, Focus writes.
"There can be no question of compulsory mobilization of people over 60. Reaching the age of 60 means that a person is deregistered. Only with his voluntary consent, only on a contractual basis, can he continue his service," he explains.
Venislavsky adds that in the defense sector there are already people over 60 years of age who perform specific tasks. In addition, many of the achievements of the armed forces have been achieved thanks to the participation of such specialists who have in-depth knowledge of Soviet weapons.
"I can say that those events that were recorded as the first in history, which the Armed Forces have done, some of them were carried out with the participation of specialists over 60 years of age. Because it was about Soviet weapons that can be used and are well known to people aged 60+, in particular officers," he explains.
