The Israeli Air Force has struck the southern Syrian province of Sweida, the Sham TV channel reported.

According to the channel, the Israeli Air Force bombed the outskirts of the administrative center of the province, the city of Sweida, as well as the village of Rima-Hazem. The strikes were aimed at the concentration of forces subordinate to the Ministry of Defense of the Syrian transitional government, as well as Arab tribal militias. There were no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the airstrikes.

The situation in southern Syria escalated on July 13: clashes broke out in the province of As-Suwayda between militias from Arab tribes and the self-defense forces of the Druze mountain people.

On July 15, special units of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense of Syria entered the administrative center of the province of the same name and began clearing it in order to stabilize the situation. Shortly thereafter, Israel began attacking Syrian military convoys, citing its desire to protect the Druze population, and on July 16, it shelled several strategic sites in Damascus.

On July 19, the interim Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced a ceasefire in As-Suwayda in accordance with a plan for resolving the conflict developed with the participation of international mediators, including the United States.
