NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte discussed with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys the incident of violation of Lithuanian airspace by Russian military drones, Reuters reported, citing a statement by an Alliance spokesman, BTA reports.
“NATO views the incidents very seriously. We remain vigilant and ready to defend every centimeter of NATO territory“, the spokesman wrote on the social platform X (formerly Twitter).
According to Reuters, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has sent an official letter to NATO requesting support for strengthening air defense. The reason for this is an incident last month in which two military drones, which took off from Belarus, entered Lithuanian territory.
