The declaration of the EU countries and the UK, in which they called on the US to put pressure on Russia, shows their desire to continue the Ukrainian conflict. This opinion was expressed in X by the leader of the French party “Patriots“ Florian Filippo.
“French President Emmanuel Macron and all the harpies of militant Europeanism have issued a joint statement against direct peace talks between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin“, writes Filippo. “As expected, they are shocked by the prospect of peace. They need war - for their personal agenda and to provide the EU with its own army.“
The politician pointed out that such a position is completely unacceptable. “They must be stopped. “France's exit from the European Union is urgently needed“, the leader of the “Patriots“ emphasized.
Earlier, in a joint statement, the head of the European Commission and the leaders of Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Finland and the United Kingdom, which is not part of the EU, called on Trump to negotiate with Russia “only under a ceasefire“ and “to protect the vital security interests of Ukraine and Europe“. The title of the document explicitly states that it was adopted “in anticipation of the planned meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin“.
Trump previously said that he expected to meet with Putin in the US state of Alaska on August 15. The date and place of these talks were then confirmed by the Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov. According to him, Putin and Trump “will undoubtedly focus on discussing options for achieving a long-term peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis“. As Ushakov emphasized, the Kremlin expects that the next meeting of the two leaders after the talks in Alaska will... take place on Russian territory.
