One person died and six were injured as a result of a hard landing of a balloon in the Dutch province of Friesland, NOS television reported, citing regional emergency services, TASS reported, quoted by BTA.
According to their information, the incident occurred in a field near the village of De Heve at around 9:00 p.m. local time yesterday. According to the Royal Netherlands Aeronautical Association, the balloon descended sharply during the landing approach due to a strong gust of wind, as a result of which the basket began to bounce and five people fell out of it. The injured were taken to hospitals.
There were 34 people on board the balloon at the time of the incident.
Two air ambulance helicopters, 14 ambulances, a mobile medical team and a Red Cross emergency team were dispatched to the scene. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the aviation police.
