Ukrainian special services were preparing to kill employees of a defense industry enterprise in Saratov.

This was reported in a video recording of an interrogation released by the FSB by a captured accomplice in the murder of the deputy head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik.

„In 2025, on the instructions of my superior, I conducted surveillance of a number of employees of a defense industry enterprise in the city of Saratov. The Ukrainian special services did not have time to carry out their plan to kill these people,“ he said.

Earlier, the FSB announced the arrest of an accomplice in the murder of General Moskalik in the Saratov region. He participated in the delivery of an improvised explosive device to the Moscow region on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services, as a result of which Moskalik was killed on April 25, 2025. According to the FSB, the detainee also participated in the collection and transmission of information to the enemy side about servicemen of the Russian Aerospace Forces, heads and employees of defense enterprises, as well as objects of critical and transport infrastructure in the Saratov region.

The alleged accomplice fully admitted his guilt.

The man is a native of Saratov, a citizen of the Russian Federation. In July 2023, an unknown person wrote to him on the WhatsApp messenger, introduced himself as an employee of the Ukrainian special services and offered him to carry out orders for a reward. “In April 2025, on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services, I participated in a terrorist attack against Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik. "My task was to monitor him and deliver him an explosive device," the detainee said. In addition, according to him, from 2023 to 2025, on the instructions of his curator, he conducted surveillance of servicemen of the Russian Aerospace Forces, establishing their place of work and residence.

A criminal case has been initiated against the arrested person under Part 3 of Article 205.1 (assistance in a terrorist act) and Article 222.1 (illegal sale of explosive substances or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. He is being held in custody. The FSB added that investigative actions are currently being carried out to qualify the actions of the detainee under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (high treason).

The suspect in the murder was detained the next day. He turned out to be Ignat Kuzin, who had a residence permit in Ukraine and was recruited by the SBU. He was charged with committing crimes under Articles 205, 222.1, 223.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act, illegal trafficking and production of explosive substances and explosive devices).
