Iran continues to insist on diplomacy and seek a mutually beneficial solution, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said after a meeting on the country's nuclear program with the three European powers - France, Britain and Germany, held in Geneva today, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The request of the three European powers for Iran to restore access to inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to its nuclear sites and to renew negotiations to find a diplomatic solution was discussed in the Swiss city.

Otherwise, sanctions lifted under the 2015 international agreement, which has largely been invalidated, will be reimposed, Reuters points out.

The United States is withdrew from the deal in 2018, during Donald Trump's first presidential term.

Today's talks in Geneva ended without a breakthrough. This increases the risk of a political escalation in the dispute over Iran's nuclear program, notes DPA.

The European troika threatened Iran to resume sanctions against it if a solution to the dispute is not found by the end of this month.

This was the second round of talks between Tehran and the European troika after the brief Israeli-Iranian war in June. The first took place in Istanbul at the end of July.
