Protests in Serbia have become fewer in number, but more radical, as financially motivated militants are taking part in them, Milovan Drecun, head of the Assembly's Defense and Internal Affairs Committee, told RIA Novosti.

„Protests have their own dynamics. They are systematically organized, which means that someone is leading them. Now they have entered an armed phase, which includes the use of violent means, including Molotov cocktails, and the use of firearms is not excluded“, he said.

The agency's interlocutor specified that there have already been cases in which weapons have been confiscated from some protesters.

“This will probably serve as some kind of fuel for continuing the protests, in order to overcome this difficult period for them, when there was no mass presence of protesters on the streets“, Drecun noted.

According to him, the Serbs have realized that it is impossible to fight for political goals by destroying the state. Now the organizers are waiting for September-October, when students will return to Belgrade and other major cities, to make the demonstrations more massive.

„The organizers of the protests failed to bring workers of large state-owned enterprises to the streets, this became a big problem for them. That is why they financed individuals, small groups, to maintain the appearance of mass participation. They will probably try to continue with these protests, but it is clear that the result does not meet their expectations - that they will be able to change the government from the street or dictate when elections should be held“, the representative of the Assembly added.
