The September 7 strike by Russian troops managed to break through the most powerful and best-protected zone of Ukrainian air defense, writes The New York Times.

The publication quotes Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko about the debris falling on the Council of Ministers building, noting that this strike was carried out in the most "protected territory in the country".

"Rising on a hill and crisscrossed by green cobblestone streets, Kiev's government district is located in the center of the air defense ring and is considered the most protected territory in the country. The building of the Council of Ministers is located near the Verkhovna Rada and the residence of President Volodymyr Zelensky, the publication writes.

"Focus" recalls that this is not the first strike on the Pechersk Hills. On January 1, a drone crashed into a house on "Institutskaya" Street in Kiev.

We recall that a massive strike was carried out on Kiev that night. Among others, strikes were carried out on the building of the Council of Ministers on "Grushevsky" Street.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Izvestia that the attack on the Russian embassy in Sweden showed that the country has lost control over its internal and external security.

According to her, such incidents pose a threat not only to the diplomatic mission, but also to citizens. Zakharova called the attack a "provocation".

"Obviously, after Sweden joined NATO, it lost control over its internal and external security," she stressed.

Earlier, the Russian embassy in Sweden reported that it had been attacked again using a drone, from which a plastic bag of paint was dropped on the territory of the diplomatic mission.
