The ban on the export of insulin drugs and antibiotics for children expires today. The order of the former health minister Hristo Hinkov was motivated by the fact that there is a shortage of these medicines in our country.

In our country, 80,000 children and adults depend on insulin.

This was another extension of the ban on exports after inspections by the Agency for Medicines and Health and Safety in the country showed problems with the provision of several types of insulin.

The ministry's explanation at the time was that there were medicines, but because of a problem with the wholesalers - they did not reach the pharmacies.

According to data from patient organizations, the deficit has been around for almost a year. The Ministry of Health also confirmed the problem of delayed supplies or lack of insulin months ago.

And here comes the different interpretations of the problem – according to pharmacy owners, distributors are deliberately holding back quantities to be exported when the export ban ends in three days. And according to the distributors, it is not the parallel export that is the cause of the problem, but rather the poor organization on the part of the health authorities.
