This was commented to NOVA by Dr. Angel Kunchev, chief state health inspector, quoted by dariknews.bg.
According to him, the most risky group are children up to 2 months. Kunchev added that vaccination coverage for whooping cough, at the lowest ages, is close to 93%. “The development of the disease will continue. With the measures we have taken, we will reduce the risk for the smallest, he said.
Angel Kunchev added that there is no risk for pregnant women, but children born to immunized mothers are fully protected.
Regarding the incidence of measles, the chief state health inspector said that with the coverage that is in place in the country, there will be no mass spread.
“Measles is a much more serious medical problem than whooping cough. There is a question of immunization coverage, said Kunchev.
According to him, the long COVID 19 is one of the most unpleasant complications of the disease. “There are many states behind this. The consequences appear where the patient had weaknesses. They are very diverse. Many scientific centers are working on this, but there is no progress in this area”, said Angel Kunchev.

Whooping cough does not have the explosive nature that the flu has. We see a creeping uptrend that will continue. It is more of a summer infection. Its season is now and there will be cases until the end of the year. The question is how intense they will be. Based on our not bad immunization coverage, it will not be one of the most intensive. What is happening with us right now, Europe has been experiencing it for a year and a half. Only for the first quarter of the year, according to data from the European Center for Disease Control, there were 32,000 cases.
