Doctors in the UK have said the government should ban flavored and disposable vapes vapes to protect children from a growing epidemic of use in the country, BNR reported.

Marketers on the Island are luring children with colours, brands and flavors such as bubble gum or cotton candy to market their product, which can lead to nicotine addiction, the British Medical Association said. Doctors believe bold action is needed and vapes have no place in young people's lives.

About 8% of 11- to 17-year-olds use vapes, according to available data.

Although it is now illegal to sell vape to under-18s, Professor David Strain, who chairs the British Medical Association's Scientific Council, told the BBC that children still needed more protection. "There is no denying that we live in a vaping epidemic," said the professor, adding that one in 10 adults now vape, a staggering increase.

David Strain also stated that "as a doctor he understands the role that vapes can play in helping people stop smoking, but they have no place in the lives of our children and young people and when it comes to protecting their health, we can't afford to risk it.
