„Since 2017 I have been talking about the "conquered state". The vote of no confidence was completely justified, the topic – correct, the debate – elementary, and the result – predictable. The rulers do not produce policies. They only look at how to survive and how to increase their privileges“, said Cornelia Ninova, leader of "Unruly Bulgaria" on the air of the Bulgarian National Radio.
Regarding the participants in the government, Ninova made sharp criticisms: „The people who voted for the BSP see a moral bottom today. A dozen people betrayed their voters in exchange for ministerial posts and benefits. This is a sale of principles, of ideas, of everything. My credo has always been clear: Never with GERB, never with the mafia. I have refused offers for posts, for power and for money, because I do not collude with the mafia.“
Regarding the problems facing the people, Ninova was categorical: “ Outside the parliament, Bulgarian citizens live with three big problems - rising prices, water shortages and racketeering on small and medium-sized businesses. In the parliament, they have two questions - how to survive and how to increase their privileges. Two worlds between which there is a gap. Small family businesses are pressured with inspections by the National Revenue Agency, economic police, and labor inspectorate. They are destroyed for pennies, while no one checks the millions for highways and energy deals. This is an anti-Bulgarian policy.“
Commenting on food prices, Ninova specified: “Every day we hear how wholesale prices are going up - cabbage, potatoes, cheese, meat, milk. And at retail, the price increase is double. There would be a law on the agri-food chain - there is none. Shops for the people - there are none. Price ceilings - there is none. Everything is a failure.“
Regarding the water crisis, the leader of “Unruly Bulgaria“ warned: “Over 550 thousand Bulgarians are already on a water regime. Over 200 private hydroelectric power plants are pumping water from dams and accumulating millions while people are living on a regime. In Zhrebchevo and Koprinka, the owners of hydroelectric power plants are foreign companies that pump our water, generate electricity and then sell it to us at a high price. This is madness. The first measure is to stop the private hydroelectric power plants. But they won't do it. I ask why? Are there MPs, ministers and their families with vets?
On the issue of power and privileges, Ninova sharply criticized the ruling party: “The parliament started its first working day by raising salaries by 11% and buying 70 new luxury cars. In the economy of which country in the world do salaries automatically increase every 3 months? Given that the people are getting poorer and prices are rising. At the same time, the NSO has been turned into a private guard. I personally have refused both a car and security from the NSO. As the chairman of a parliamentary group, I have not used a car for a single day. As deputy prime minister, I refused a car and a driver from the NSO. I signed a declaration and will publish it. And I have the right to speak so sharply and categorically, because I have never been part of this. Because in politics it is important to set a personal example and I have self-confidence - 3 times I have asked for a law to reduce and freeze the salaries of MPs. Three times. It is in the parliament transcripts and I have defended it from the podium. Because this increase is immoral, illogical, economically and financially inadequate.“, she was categorical.
Ninova questioned the legitimacy of the government: “The Constitutional Court has already established – the elections were flawed, and some of the MPs – illegitimate. The ruling majority was elected with fake votes. This government is illegitimate. Fake parliament, fake MPs, fake government. I do not recognize them as a legitimate government.“
Ninova also made a sharp comment on the economy and the budget: “The government is leading Bulgaria into the perfect storm – incomes have frozen, prices are soaring, and new taxes are being prepared: on inheritance, on property, an increase in social security contributions. Instead of an economic plan for production and growth, they are burdening the people with new burdens. This is how the backbone of the economy is being killed - small and medium-sized businesses.“
Regarding the alternative, the leader of "Unruly Bulgaria" summarized: “We are proposing a third time - not new loans, not new taxes, but an economic plan to stimulate production and support business. I have already proven it - when I was deputy prime minister, Bulgaria was first in Europe in industrial production, we implemented the strongest social program for 22 billion and ended with a deficit below 3%, without risk to Bulgaria's fiscal stability. This is proof that there can be both a fair social policy and financial stability. We have a program and a plan to stabilize the economy. I have never sold myself for positions and I have never betrayed voters, and I will never do so!“
