A jump in the prices of basic food products is observed. However, a drop in the prices of most fruits and vegetables is reported. This is reported by the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DCBM), quoted by BTA.
The market price index (MPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in Bulgaria, decreased minimally by 0.04 percent to 2.272 points. Last week, the MPI was at a level of 2.273 points. The base level of the ITC - 1,000 points, is from 2005.
Among vegetables, the price of zucchini fell the most - by 14.29 percent and is traded for 1.35 leva per kilogram, followed by cucumbers, which fell by 9.54 percent to 2.18 leva per kilogram. The price of cabbage fell by 6.19 percent and is offered for 0.91 leva per kilogram. Potatoes are cheaper by 1.64 percent and are sold for 1.05 leva per kilogram. Green peppers are cheaper by 6.16 percent to 1.79 leva per kilogram, and red peppers - by 6.81 percent to 2.12 leva per kilogram. Ripe onions are also down - by 1.36 percent to 1.09 leva per kilogram.
A price increase is observed for tomatoes - by 18.21 percent to 2.45 leva, and for carrots - by 0.62 percent to 1.22 leva per kilogram.
Among fruits, there is a price jump for peaches - by 8.95 percent more to 4.23 leva per kilogram. Watermelons, grapes, apples and lemons are cheaper by 0.37 percent to 0.68 leva per kilogram, 0.92 percent to 2.96 leva per kilogram, 3.18 percent to 2.74 leva per kilogram and 2.35 percent to 4.37 leva per kilogram.
The majority of dairy products are more expensive - cow's cheese is up by 0.97 percent to 11.95 leva per kilogram, "Vitosha" type yellow cheese is more expensive by 0.68 percent to 17.78 leva per kilogram. Fresh milk increases its price by 2.46 percent to 2.29 leva per liter, the price of butter (a 125-gram package) is 0.56 percent higher and is offered at 3.12 leva per piece. Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) is cheaper, down 0.90 percent to 1.37 leva per 400 g bucket.
Frozen chicken is traded 0.07 percent more to 6.95 leva per kilogram, eggs (size M) are also up 2.70 percent to 0.38 leva per piece wholesale.
The price of rice is up 0.68 percent to 3.31 leva per kilogram, and of ripe beans - 0.83 percent to 4.24 leva per kilogram. Lentils are cheaper by 1.15 percent to 4.29 leva per kilogram. Type 500 flour is offered 0.51 percent more to 1.49 leva per kilogram. The price of oil fell by 3.49 percent to 3.11 leva per liter, and sugar fell by 0.41 percent to 1.83 leva per kilogram.
