The Bulgarian Embassy in Tel Aviv has requested consular access to the Bulgarian citizen detained by the Israeli authorities in the operation against the flotilla “Sumud“, as well as guarantees that his rights will be respected. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

The Embassy remains in contact with the competent authorities, monitors the development of the case and will inform in a timely manner about any new information.

The Ministry also reports that it has been monitoring what is happening with the so-called. Global flotilla Sumud since the moment of its departure. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs promptly informed the Israeli authorities that among the foreign citizens on board one of the ships, part of the flotilla, there is also a Bulgarian citizen.

According to our information, the same, along with citizens of a number of other countries, is among those detained in the framework of the Israeli operation, our foreign ministry writes.

At the moment, the detainees are being gradually taken to the Israeli port of Ashdod. Local authorities have provided the opportunity for medical care if necessary, the Foreign Ministry adds.
