The Sofia Municipality is introducing a crisis organization for garbage collection in the "Lyulin" and "Krasno Selo" districts starting tomorrow due to expired contracts with companies that collect garbage.

In front of the Bulgarian National Radio, Mayor Vasil Terziev assured that these areas will not be left without cleaning, and the garbage will be transported by trucks of the Waste Processing Plant, known as SPTO - Sofia Waste Treatment Plant.

"Like any other crisis - we will cope because we have thought in advance. We have different plans, but we will have to cope together with the citizens, since they will also be expected to cooperate - to dispose of waste separately where they can, to follow the instructions about where and what containers are available, not to throw bulky waste.

The mayor is adamant that there is no situation in which he would accept a price of 400 leva per ton for waste removal.

"Citizens will feel it by the fact that garbage trucks will not come by 3 times a day to clean".

Terziev expects the problems to continue for months.
