The most serious topic in recent days is the floods on the Southern Black Sea Coast and who, how, issued the building permits. When a disaster occurs, we start commenting on these issues, and the rest of the time it seems that the violations continue. We are ambitious this time to put an end to these outrages. This is what the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov said in the program “Crossroads”.
“How long will this greed kill people? It happens that local authorities allow all these constructions. Sometimes the central government has turned a blind eye over the years and we end up in this situation we are in”, he pointed out.
Gutsanov indicated that he would submit a proposal – to allocate the following funds - a one-time aid of 1914 leva, 3000 leva per affected household, 2500 leva for electrical appliances. He explained that the home must be owned by the family and be legal. He added that discussions are underway on what kind of aid will be allocated to the families of the deceased.
Gutsanov said that he does not accept the employers' argument that there are no objective economic reasons for increasing the Ministry of Internal Affairs at such a pace. He added that the restoration of dialogue between employers and unions is a good sign.
“Poverty should not be the one that leads the economy. Lower wages should not be a center of attraction for investors”, he pointed out.
Gutsanov was categorical that it is not right to increase taxes. In his words, for the formation of the budget for next year, one way is to “tighten belts”, and the other - stimulate the economy, paring with the gray sector. The data show that the gray economy is 23%, and according to other studies it is 30%, the minister pointed out and added that this is a huge reserve that needs to be highlighted. He emphasized that there can be revenue without increasing taxes.
The Social Minister also commented on the plan to support families with children. He said that one of the proposals concerns maternity. From 780 leva in the second year, it should become 1,100 leva. And if mothers return to work in the second year - they should receive 75% of 1,100 leva maternity benefits (currently they receive 50%).
Another proposal is to increase benefits for the first, second and third child.
