On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the traffic organization will change in the sections under repair on the "Trakia" and "Hemus" highways. To increase safety in heavy traffic, you can also drive in the emergency lane. The goal is to ease travel at the end of the week, when many people are on the road. Drivers are urged to drive carefully, strictly follow the road signs and the temporary organization introduced.

On the "Hemus" highway in the section between the village of Yana and the entrance to Sofia /from km 0 to km 8/, in which repairs to the road to the capital began on September 15, reverse traffic will be organized.

Every Friday until the end of October from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. there will be two lanes for traffic in the direction of Varna. Traffic to Sofia will be redirected from the “Yana“ junction along road I-1 through Gorni and Dolni Bogrov to the capital.

On all Saturdays until the end of the month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. two lanes will be provided for those traveling to Varna, with traffic in the direction of the capital passing along a bypass route from the “Yana“ junction on the I-1 road through Gorni and Dolni Bogrov to Sofia.

On Sunday - October 12, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday - October 13, from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., there will be two lanes of traffic in the direction of Sofia. Traffic to Varna will be redirected on the I-1 road from Sofia through Dolni and Gorni Bogrov to the “Yana“ junction, from where it will continue along the highway. It is planned to introduce reverse traffic every weekend until the repair of the section from Yana station to Sofia is completed. The estimated deadline for completing the construction works in the Sofia lane is October 31.

At the discretion of the “Traffic Police“ additional traffic regulation measures may be introduced.

In four sections of the “Trakia“ in the districts of Sofia, Pazardzhik, Stara Zagora and Sliven, repairs are being carried out in one lane, and traffic is redirected in two directions in the lane where construction work is not being carried out. Travelers to and from Plovdiv can also use alternative routes - the Sub-Balkan road I-6 Sofia - Karlovo, as well as the Ihtiman road - Samokov.

In the Sofia district, the section between the 24th and 33rd km of the "Trakia" motorway is being repaired. In the Pazardzhik district on Saturday - October 11, construction work is being completed in an 8-kilometer section between the 90th and 98th km in the Burgas lane. Immediately after the completion of the construction works, the traffic will be transferred to the renovated lane, which will have one lane in the direction of Burgas and one lane for Sofia, and the work in the section will continue in the lane for Sofia.

Construction activities in the lane for Burgas are also being carried out in sections in the Stara Zagora and Sliven districts. In Stara Zagora, 10 km between 208th and 218th km are being repaired, and in the Sliven district - 11 km, from 262nd to 273rd km.

In the section in the Sofia district between 24th and 33rd km on Friday from 00:00 to 14:00, two lanes will be set up for traffic in the direction of Sofia and one lane in the direction of Burgas, and from 14:00 to 24:00 there will be two lanes towards Burgas and one towards Sofia. In case of heavy traffic, from around 12:00 until traffic normalizes, it is possible to close the lane for Sofia and allow only those traveling to Burgas to pass through the three designated lanes. From 4:00 PM until traffic normalizes, it is possible to limit traffic in the lane for Burgas and allow three lanes to pass through those traveling to the capital. The goal is to regulate traffic when a column of cars forms. We appeal to drivers to allow more time for travel, to observe road signs and the introduced temporary organization of traffic, as well as to comply with the introduced time restrictions.

On Saturday from 00:00 AM to 3:00 PM, there will be two lanes for traffic in the direction of Burgas and one lane for Sofia, and from 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM there will be two lanes for traffic to Sofia and one to Burgas. If traffic is heavy, it is possible to limit traffic in the Sofia lane at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until traffic normalizes and to create three lanes in the direction of Burgas.

On Sunday from 00:00 to 24:00, two lanes will be organized for traffic in the direction of Sofia and one lane for Burgas. In case of heavy traffic, it is possible at 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. until the need to stop traffic traveling to Sofia disappears and only those traveling to Burgas can pass in the three separate lanes.

To increase safety and facilitate traffic, every Friday until the end of October from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., the movement of trucks over 12 tons will be temporarily limited in both directions in the section from Sofia to the “Orizovo“ junction on the “Trakia“ motorway in the Stara Zagora region /from km 0 to km 165/. The ban does not apply to road vehicles that provide public transport of passengers, motor vehicles that transport dangerous goods (ADR) for refueling gas stations in traffic restrictions section and roadside assistance with specialized equipment for repatriating various types of vehicles. Buses that are in the category of motor vehicles over 12 tons will not be restricted and will pass along the highway.

The introduction of the change in the organization of traffic on the “Trakia“ motorway and the "Hemus" Motorway is coordinated with the Ministry of Interior, and at their discretion, additional actions may be taken to increase traffic safety and regulate traffic.

The "Road Infrastructure" Agency apologizes to citizens for the inconvenience caused, but the repair work is necessary to ensure traffic safety and increase travel comfort. Drivers must comply with traffic rules and speed limits, and not undertake risky overtaking, which endangers the safety of all other travelers. During peak hours, when many people set off at the same time, a column of cars forms in the sections under repair and movement is slower. Therefore, drivers need to allow more time for travel and strictly follow road signs and the temporary traffic organization introduced.

All citizens and transport companies can receive information about the current traffic situation from the API website - www.api.bg, as well as at any time of the day by calling 0700 130 20.
