The repair work on the Sofia-bound lane of the Hemus Motorway section from the village of Yana to the entrance to the capital has been completed, the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) announced.
The renovated 8.3 km section has had its pavement replaced, a geogrid has been laid to reinforce it, and drainage has been improved. The section has new restrictive systems, markings, and signs.
In the coming days, finishing work will be carried out in the emergency lane. Traffic will pass without restrictions, but drivers need to drive with increased caution.
Preventive repairs to the section began on September 15, after geodetic surveys were carried out in the summer for the development of the technological project.
On the “Hemus“ motorway, repairs continue in the Sofia lane on a 7-kilometer section of the “Hemus“ motorway between km 23 and 30. Traffic in the section is completely limited, with traffic passing in two directions in the Varna lane, in which one lane for Varna and one for those traveling to the capital are separated. At the end of the week, when traffic is more intense, reverse traffic may be introduced.
On Friday and Saturday, two lanes will be provided for those traveling to Varna and one for traffic to the capital. On Sunday and Monday there will be two lanes in the direction of Sofia and one in the direction of Varna. If necessary and at the discretion of the “Traffic Police“ other measures in the organization of traffic may be introduced. Activities in the section began on October 21 and are expected, under favorable weather conditions, to be completed by November 15.
