Tsvetlin Yovchev: If this particular manager of "Lukoil" makes mistakes, the state can then pay to arbitration

We are increasingly resembling Greece from years ago, when the crisis there was severe. If belts are going to be tightened, the whole society must do it. This belt tightening cannot be only for half of society, which produces the goods that we redistribute, while the other half receives a salary increase, commented the former head of the National Agency for National Security

The topic of "Lukoil" has several aspects. What is worrying about the figure of the particular manager is that his decisions are not subject to administrative and judicial control in Bulgaria. This means that if this person makes mistakes, the state can then pay to arbitration. I am also afraid that the experts of the National Agency for National Security are not at the necessary level to give a foreign economic assessment of a possible buyer of "Lukoil". This is not their job. SANS does not have the resources to investigate a possible buyer company that is outside Bulgaria.

This was stated in the program "Denyat na Zievo" on NOVA NEWS by the former head of SANS, Tsvetlin Yovchev, quoted by novini.bg.

"When appointing senior staff in the services, there must be statesmanship and shared responsibility. For me, the recent changes that took away the powers of the president will be canceled after a while, because these decisions were made now in a conjuncture. We see diametrically opposed points of view on all topics between the political forces in Bulgaria," he also said.

"Regarding the fight against corruption, politicians must understand that the emphasis must be on prevention. By creating mega agencies for wiretapping and monitoring, we will not fight corruption. Our system for protecting national security is not in good condition at the moment. Several basic functions are missing. If we continue like this, we will fall into a dead end," predicts Yovchev.

"We are increasingly resembling Greece from years ago, when the crisis there was severe. If belts are going to be tightened, the whole society must do it. This belt tightening cannot be only for half of society, which produces the goods that we redistribute, while the other half receives a salary increase. This will lead to division between people," commented Tsvetlin Yovchev on the topic of the draft budget for 2026.
