The heroic poses and demonstrations of super achievements in diplomacy for obtaining a derogation for "Lukoil" look ridiculous. It was perfectly clear that there would be a license for all European countries, because the USA is a strategic ally of Europe. This was written on Facebook by President Rumen Radev.
The very appointment of a special commercial manager at "Lukoil" is illegal, because according to their law, he must develop a detailed six-month activity plan and present it to the Security Council of the Council of Ministers, where it will be approved. When did Mr. Spetsov develop such a detailed six-month plan, when did the members of this council get acquainted, when did they approve it, when he was not even present there?
The way in which the mentors of the ruling party tried to use the case of “Lukoil“ is also indicative. How was a law passed, the essence of which reveals their true intentions, which lead to situations like “Bulgartabac“ and Corpbank. The first thing they did was to abolish the guarantees against arbitrariness that were in the 2023 law. Second - they voted for themselves the powers to dispose of shares and property, which is contrary to the Constitution and the inviolability of private property. Third - they voted for themselves indulgences from now on, so that the special commercial manager is not subject to administrative and judicial control, which is outside the national and European legal peace. But let those who passed the laws that untie their hands to commit outrages, without being controlled at all by law, not have any illusions that they will be able to take advantage of this situation, as they took advantage of for “Bulgartabac“ and CorpBank.
The bigger crisis than the one with fuel is the crisis in Bulgarian politics. In parliamentary committees and the National Assembly itself, debate disappears, and when it disappears, politics disappears too, and dictatorship comes in its place. The constitution does not matter, the laws do not matter, the arguments do not matter. At the heart of the trampling of all legal, political and moral norms are those who stand above the Bulgarian government - a strong informal power that imposes its decisions in the dark. This is the danger that hangs over Bulgaria. We all know who these people are.
The budget proposed by the authorities is the embodiment of the lack of respect for everyone because of the way it was prepared, but most of all it is disrespect for the people who fill it. This is a budget for political survival and for buying electoral love, but we will all pay the consequences because it leads us to even greater indebtedness.
As for my meeting with the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, I have not refused a meeting with a Minister of Foreign Affairs, especially one of our ally and partner, but I cannot force him to meet with his Bulgarian counterpart or the government. We talked with Mr. Szijjártó about all the serious challenges facing Europe, and to solve them, political dialogue, analysis, joint efforts and interaction are necessary, Radev writes.
