In the “Interview in NOVA News” Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva made serious criticism of the draft budget in its part on State Social Security, emphasizing that the current policies do not provide sufficient support for parents and children.
Delcheva stated that the benefit for raising a child in the second year remains below the minimum wage, which, in her opinion, is unacceptable.
“I insist that maternity leave in the second year be defined as an amount equal to the minimum wage. The authorities have increased the amount of maternity leave, but these 900 leva are not enough to raise a child. raises one child", the ombudsman emphasized.
She also drew attention to the shortage of places in kindergartens and nurseries: “It is striking that the planning regarding kindergartens and nurseries is still not to such an extent that the children who need to attend kindergartens can be accommodated. There are some actions in this direction, but they are not sufficient. Mothers need more support.“
Delcheva also commented on the decision of the Sofia Municipality to increase parking fees, which, according to her, was taken without the necessary public dialogue.
“This decision was not discussed with Sofia residents, and it affects a large part of their lives. The prices offered by the Municipality are double. The decision was not justified“, she is categorical.
