Prof. Plamen Kirov: The stakes of the presidential elections will be high

The president's resignation

The Constitutional Court remains to convene a session, to vote on a decision to terminate the president's mandate based on the resignation, this was stated in "The Day Begins" by former constitutional judge Prof. Plamen Kirov.

The vice president automatically assumes the president's mandate, i.e. until the end of the term for which they were elected.

"If serious politics are being done in Bulgaria and one really thinks about state governance, and not about controlling it, one most likely thinks about naming an acting prime minister. With this move by the president, the procedure will be delayed. And when we talk about timing, there are currently no deadlines. The deadlines have expired.

There will be no significant delay in the consultations, believes Prof. Kirov, but the next step will be consultations with the people on the list.

According to Kirov, "it seems there is no obstacle for Andrey Gyurov to take the post of acting prime minister, but there is a political one."

"If he takes the post of acting prime minister, which political party will he belong to in your opinion? I think it will be the PP-DB."

When asked "who is responsible for the acting cabinet," Prof. Kirov answered: "Nobody."

"Responsibility is borne when the president appoints. Now no one will be held accountable because the president's hands are tied when he appoints the prime minister of the caretaker government.

According to Kirov, the Constitution is very good - the players are bad.

"There will be presidential elections in November and the stakes are very high there, because it doesn't matter how the political parties position themselves... The president has the right to veto. And the future president will intervene very noticeably in politics if, as a result of these early elections, we don't have a leading political entity that cannot form a coalition.".
