215,800 pieces (10,790 boxes) of smuggled cigarettes were seized by the customs officers of the Kapitan Andreevo Police Station during an inspection of a vehicle entering the country from Turkey.
On 20.01.2026, at around 6 am, a passenger car with a Turkish registration, driven by a Bulgarian citizen, arrived at the checkpoint. After a risk analysis, the car was selected for a thorough customs inspection. During the control actions, in the transported goods - bed frames, the customs officers found boxes of cigarettes hidden between the wooden board and the textile part. The total quantity of tobacco products discovered is 215,800 pieces (10,790 boxes) of cigarettes with a foreign excise stamp.
The cigarettes have been seized. A case has been drawn up against the offender under the Customs Act.
Since the beginning of the year, customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo Police Station have seized nearly 625,000 pieces (31,250 boxes) of illegal cigarettes.
