Before announcing who she will appoint as caretaker prime minister, President Iliana Yotova will talk separately with the parliamentary groups in the 51st National Assembly.
The consultations begin today with the first two largest formations. At 11 a.m. there is a meeting with representatives of GERB-SDF. At 1:30 p.m. on "Dondukov" 2 they are invited by the second largest parliamentary group "We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria".
The President talked separately with 10 possible candidates for caretaker prime minister last week. Five confirmed that they are ready to head an interim government: Deputy Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank Andrey Gyurov, Deputy Ombudsman Maria Filipova, Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts Dimitar Glavchev and his deputies Margarita Nikolova and Silvia Kadreva.
"Those who said yes, we talked about them. From my side, questions were raised - how they plan to overcome all the problems so that there will be no more canceled elections", said Yotova.
Before announcing her decision on whom she will assign to form an interim cabinet, she will also hold consultations with the parliamentary groups:
"The election of the next interim Prime Minister is an election of the National Assembly. They voted for these changes to the Constitution. For me, the conversation with the parliamentary groups will also be extremely important."
The talks begin with the largest parliamentary group. GERB-SDF expressed hope that the caretaker cabinet will be neutral. Denitsa Sacheva, the deputy chairwoman of the GERB-SDF parliamentary group:
"I hope that Ms. Yotova will create an absolutely neutral architecture for the caretaker government. GERB will not give any advice, neither on who should be the caretaker prime minister, nor on who should be the caretaker minister."
The second meeting of “Dondukov“ 2 is today with "We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria". At the consultations, they will ask the future caretaker minister of justice to propose a new acting prosecutor general. Bozhidar Bozhanov, Deputy Chairman of the PP-DB parliamentary group:
"Of the names on the table, the only one who is not related to Peevski is Mr. Gyurov."
Those from "Vazrazhdane" who refused to participate in the consultations with the president, indicated who, in their opinion, is suitable for caretaker prime minister. Petar Petrov, Deputy Chairman of the "Vazrazhdane" parliamentary group:
"Andrey Gyurov is the most acceptable."
In the coming days, meetings are also scheduled with the other parliamentary groups. After the consultations, Iliyana Yotova will announce who she will assign to form a caretaker government.
