The Freedom Monument on Mount Shipka will have free admission and extended working hours on March 3rd

On March 3rd, the Freedom Monument on Mount Shipka will have free admission and extended working hours. This was announced to BTA by the director of the National Park-Museum “Shipka – Buzludzha“ Dr. Chavdar Angelov. All those who wish to view the permanent exhibition will be able to do so immediately after the end of the official ceremony on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria, which is expected to end around 12:30.

On the holiday day, the monument will have extended working hours and will remain open for visitors until 19:00, and in the event that there is a crowd at this time, the Freedom Monument will remain open until 20:00.

The official ceremony to mark the 148th anniversary of the Liberation of Bulgaria will take place on the site directly under the Freedom Monument, after which wreaths and flowers will be laid in front of the monument, added Dr. Angelov. The cultural program will feature the ensemble “Bulgare“, the trio “The Three Bulgarian Tenors“ and folklore ensemble “Detelini“, who will perform a thematic performance at various locations on the summit.

Dr. Chavdar Angelov also reminded that on the occasion of the National Holiday, a temporary traffic organization will be introduced with a restriction of transit traffic through the Shipka Pass from the evening of March 2. He emphasized that guests of the holiday should not underestimate the winter conditions in the mountains and called on all those wishing to join the celebrations to be prepared.

This year, the host of the National Celebration on March 3 is the Municipality of Kazanlak, and the festive events will begin on March 2 with a ceremonial lighting ceremony on the central square “Sevtopolis“.
