At this stage, there is no data on a direct military threat to our country after the large-scale operation by the US and Israel against Iran. This was announced by the acting Minister of the Interior Emil Dechev, although the reassuring institutional tone contrasts with the urgent convening of the Security Council to the Council of Ministers.

"We have taken all security measures," said Emil Dechev, quoted by BTA.

He added that at 1:00 p.m. today, the Prime Minister will gather the heads of the responsible services to discuss the need to take additional actions to protect national security.

Despite the government's attempts to prevent panic in society, institutional claims of complete safety save a key context. A military escalation of such a scale in the Middle East inevitably leads to serious economic consequences for Europe, including Bulgaria.

Analysts are already warning of an inevitable shock to the energy markets, which means a potential jump in oil prices and a new rise in inflation in our country. Separately, such conflicts historically trigger new migration waves to the borders of the European Union.

Earlier today, world agencies reported an unprecedented escalation in the region. Israel announced a preemptive strike against Iranian targets, and US President Donald Trump confirmed the participation of US armed forces. Trump described the actions as a large-scale combat operation aimed at neutralizing Tehran's military and missile capabilities.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs formed a Crisis Headquarters and called on Bulgarian citizens in the region to strictly follow the instructions of local authorities and to prepare to use shelters.
