At the invitation of “We Continue the Change“, the lawyer Velislav Velichkov from the “Justice for Everyone“ Initiative is entering the civil quota of the PP-DB lists. He announced this himself at a meeting with citizens in Varna.

This is how one of the promises of “We Continue the Change“ to include people from the protests in its civil quota is being kept.

In front of a crowded hall in Varna, Velislav Velichkov stated:

“For the next parliament, I accepted the proposal made to me by the political party “We Continue the Change“. I also sought and received the support of Democratic Bulgaria. In the upcoming elections, I will be eligible to run on the general lists of “We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria“ – as a citizen.” - announced Velichkov.

According to him, “The greatest danger facing the state today is the system's dependence on election results and the possibility that it can be controlled from within. If we do not change the judiciary - truly and profoundly - we risk losing our democracy. If the next parliament does not elect a new composition of the Supreme Judicial Council and a new inspectorate to it; if clear, long-term criteria are not set and quality professionals and moral people are not elected; if the Prosecutor General is not replaced with a person who understands his role in a democratic state; if we do not eliminate this excessive concentration of power in the prosecutor's office - this essentially Soviet construction that remained in the Constitution - and if we do not guarantee a truly independent judiciary, we will inevitably find ourselves on the road to dictatorship.

This should not happen.

And that is why we must do everything possible to build a judiciary that serves the citizens, not the government.

I believe that the moment for a real breakthrough is now. I will work with the people who want to achieve judicial reform, and I will lead this fight from inside the parliament - just as I have been leading it from outside for 10 years.“
