What happened yesterday was unprecedented. It was a political hoax. The question is why all this is being done. This is how the co-chairman of the PP Kiril Petkov commented in the studio of “Hello, Bulgaria” the escalation of political tension after the return of a fulfilled mandate from GERB-SDS.
„12 days to negotiate and come up with names that have not been mentioned... The Constitution gives a deadline to fulfill the mandate. Why was the process rushed and blown up in the end? Maria Gabriel made a huge mistake, which is expressed in the fact that she agreed to be pressured by Borisov. The big question is, can you be the leader of a political party, knowing that you are throwing the country into chaos and not even show up at the end. Not only did he not show up, but he hid and didn't pick up the phone. I'm not dying to talk to Borisov, but when you're a political leader you can't hide behind four people you sent to be fried. He threw Gabrielle under the bus. Her reputation was destroyed with a political move that is not known in Europe - to go to the president with a cabinet that is not coordinated,” said Petkov.
According to him, in the Agreement on the reforms, the two things that were denied to them are related to the reforms of the services, for which the PP-DB wanted to have a clear date by July 31, as well as the text on investigative secrecy, which was proposed by Hristo Ivanov.
„I felt bad for them yesterday. They were made to say absolutely false things. We showed the last version of the contract that we were ready to sign. Petkov said.
On the occasion of the agreement, Petkov also explained that on the last night of the negotiations, one of the ladies from the GERB negotiation team appeared with a document signed by Gabriel. The PP-DB opened the document, looked at the date for the reform in the services and saw that the specifics were missing, the co-chairman of the PP also said.
He added that the cabinet is absurd, and the ministers have signed declarations stating that they do not want to participate in it. “When the mandate comes to us, we will gather all the national councils of the PP-DB coalitions and we will not rush, but think. We will not run away from political responsibility. The idea of throwing the country into chaos is the easiest. But this is not a child's toy. And GERB helped us realize how strong we are together in our coalition," added Petkov.
He specified that GERB should understand that the old model is over. “We are responsible, we understand that there are hundreds of thousands of votes behind them, but they also need to understand that the time for tricks is over,” he specified.
„The three places where there was the most pressure from GERB to have their people were energy, defense and the fear of changing services. These are the three aspects where Russia, in the last 30 years, has most wanted to have control, Petkov added.
