We will deal with the elections 2 in 1. Of course, when it is not clear until the last whether they will be on the same date, we had to develop all election papers in working versions. We terminated the old public order for the machine voting for the European elections and announced the new one for the 2 in 1 elections. This is what the chairwoman of the Central Election Commission, Kamelia Neikova, told bTV.

When asked whether money will be saved by holding 2-in-1 elections, she commented: “I cannot answer categorically. The plan-account for the elections is adopted by a decision of the Council of Ministers. Among the millions that are always spoken during elections, the part about the CEC is quite small. When the plan-account is adopted, it will become clear how the money is distributed among the departments. With 2 in 1 elections, funds are saved for logistics, for election premises, for remunerations for SIK.”

She specified that there will be two electoral lists, depending on the address registrations of the voters. The parties will have the same numbers if they apply for registration for both elections.

„It is good, when the Electoral Code is amended, to have enough time for discussion and broad discussion in order to make good changes,”, Neikova believes.

Regarding the machine voting, she recalled the case of the past local elections: “It was not clear where the flash drive was, on which the deputy minister of e-governance made a recording of the procedure for displaying the exit move.” According to her, the result of the investigation did not reach the CEC.

„When the voter votes with a paper ballot, he seems to focus on the circle with a preference, and fails to mark the party or the coalition,”, she commented on the invalid ballots.

„I know the new minister of e-governance. During our joint work, he participated in the computer processing of the voting results more than 10 years ago,”, she added.
