The whole scandal was used purely politically to remove the Chief Secretary. This is what investigative journalist Slavi Angelov said on bTV, quoted by FOCUS.
His comment is on the occasion of the scandal surrounding the chief secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, whose name was linked to people arrested for smuggling, after photos of him with them appeared.
"These photos are not proof of anything and will not prove anything. They are evidence of the immoral behavior of the Chief Secretary. Here we can only look for a lack of morals and a lack of professionalism. This person cannot receive such gifts from such people, he should not communicate and travel to expensive destinations with them”, added the journalist.
"I am afraid that there is also some factual evidence against him to encourage him to become a protected witness,", Slavi Angelov also said.
According to Angelov, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov should also resign.
"Information came out that he also knows very well this hospitable family from Haskovo. In addition, the opposition has been talking about his serious economic and political commitments for many months. In this situation, it was normal for him to resign and for professionals who are not politically burdened to enter the Ministry of Internal Affairs to ensure that the electoral process will be free of manipulations,”, the investigative journalist pointed out.
"He is much smarter and more cautious than, say, the Doctor was. Pascal does not like to appear, he lives more in Greece than in Bulgaria. He is much more careful, he does not like to stand out. These channels generate monstrous revenues and they go into the state administration. He has too many people guarding him and that's the reason his name has been in the shadows for too long. The reason that all this is happening now may be some economic interest, which he did not fulfill”, said Slavi Angelov.
According to the journalist, there is little chance that the case will end with effective sentences.
